Welcome to another potential bevy of deaths in Dark Souls 3. This game is tough but manageable and should feel very familiar if you have played any of the previous titles. You will still need a decent level of skill and perseverance in order to get the full 1000 .
NOTE ABOUT ONLINE: I've put this game down as fully offline, which is true to a point. In order to get the achievements for all spells/rings you HAVE to rank up pretty much every covenant in one way or another. The way you are meant to get covenant items is to play online but you can also farm them as very rare drops from certain enemies so it is possible (but time consuming) to do this offline if you wish. I will list the requirements further on.
NOTE ABOUT MISSABLE ACHIEVEMENTS: Certain bosses are optional and you have to discover certain areas and Covenants. However, if you choose NOT to start a new playthrough after beating the last boss you can literally go and find everything you need on the first playthrough barring a few rings that are literally not available until NG+. So nothing is truly missable.
First Playthrough
I’ll be doing a full walkthrough which can be found here - there is an abbreviated walkthrough at the top which shows the best route to get all achievements and the key items in each area. This playthrough should see you trying to find EVERY covenant, kill every boss, find all NPC's, find all gestures and get ALL spells and most rings barring the ones that are NG+ (or NG++) only.
Ideally you also want to aim for the Usurption of Fire ending this time around (as it’s the most complicated) so see the specific achievement for that.
Be sure to join and complete the following Covenants for spells and rings (Heirs of the Sun - Rank 2, Wolfs of Farron - Rank 2, Mound Makers - Rank 2, Blades of the Drakmoon – Rank 2, Aldrich Faithful – Rank 1, Rosarias Fingers – Rank 1).
Be sure to keep ALL boss souls rather than using them and transform them via Ludleth (in Firelink Shrine, need the Transposition Kiln from the Rotting Greatwood boss fight) for unique spells and rings. Note that you do NOT have to be able to use the spells - merely have them in your possession. A list of all spells can be found under each specific achievement.
ALWAYS speak to all NPC characters until they repeat themselves, as many of them will give you items, teach you gestures or move locations to further their story when you do. This is needed to learn all gestures. DO NOT KILL THEM. You also need to summon certain phantoms and beat certain invaders to get gestures too.
There are a number of optional bosses and areas so be sure to read the specific achievements for advice on how to reach them and defeat them.
Once you defeat the last boss you will be asked whether you want to start a NG+. Select NO and head back to Firelink Shrine to finish up any tasks you need to and buy any items/spells you would like. All merchants replenish their stock on NG+ so buy up rare things you may need. Once you are ready for NG+ then the option to start it will appear when you rest at the Firelink Shrine bonfire.
Second and Third Playthrough
All of your stats and items will carry over to a new game (barring any keys or key items you have). On the second playthrough your main focus is to get the End of Fire ending (see the specific guide for details) and find any missing gestures/spells you may have overlooked as well as grabbing the new rings that appear on this new game.
On NG++ you purely need to complete the game with no other side missions to get the regular ending, plus you need to find the new rings that will only be available on this playthrough. Once you get all of the rings you can hustle through the game and finish it. At that point you should get the last ending achievement and the Dark Soul achievement for getting all the rest.
Congrats on doing it all again.
The Dark Soul - 70g
Complete all achievements.
Self explanatory. Once you have acquired all other achievements in the game this will unlock.
Supreme Weapon Reinforcement - 30g
Reinforce any weapon to the highest level.
Gear can be reinforced in a number of ways depending on the item in question. Regular gear will require 12 Titanite Shards, 12 Large Titanite Shards, 12 Titanite Chunks and 1 Titanite Slab to get it to max level. Regular titanite shards and large shards are fairly common drops as the game progresses, and will also be sold by the Shrine Handmaid when you return the Dreamchaser and Easterner’s ashes to her. Titanite Chunks are rarer but you can collect plenty from corpses late in the game, farm them from Rock Beasts in Archdragon Peak or buy them from the Handmaid when you return the Dragonchaser’s Ashes (from Archdragon Peak). Titanite Slabs are rarest of all – but you can buy one from the Handmaid when you return all four Lord of Cinder ashes to their thrones at Firelink. Then go to Andre the Blacksmith and upgrade your weapon of choice.
You can also upgrade rare/boss weapons with either Twinkling Titanite or Dragon Scales (need fifteen of each to go to +4 and then 1 Titanite Slab to go to +5). These are fairly rare to find, but can be bought from the Handmaid by returning the Dragonchaser’s Ashes or farmed from the Rock Beasts. NOTE THAT WEAPONS OF THIS TYPE DO NOT COUNT FOR THIS ACHIEVEMENT, IT MUST BE A REGULAR +10 WEAPON.
Master of Infusion - 30g
Perform all forms of infusion.
To infuse a weapon you need to take it to Blacksmith Andre in Firelink Shrine, you most have to relevant coal and the necessary gem stone. To get them all you’ll need the following:
• Farron Coal – found in the Road of Sacrifices. From the Halfway Fortress bonfire go straight ahead and drop down the ledges on the right side, past some poison beasts and crucified undead and into a door at the end. Hand a right here and head down to a Black Knight the coal is on a body just past him. Allows Heavy, Sharp and Poison infusion.
• Sage’s Coal – found in Farron Keep. From the first bonfire head left through the swamp until you come to a tower guarded by a Darkwraith, the coal is on a body inside. Allows Crystal, Blessed and Deep infusion.
• Profaned Coal – found in Irithyll Dungeon. In the same large room where you find multiple jailers and Karla the Witch is locked up. On the left side (facing the main exit) is a room full of malformed beasts, the coal is on a body in this room. Allows Dark, Blood and Hollow infusion.
• Giant’s Coal – found in Anor Londo. From the bonfire, head up the stairs and hand a left. Enter the doorway through here to find the coal on the giant blacksmiths corpse. Allows Lightning, Simple and Chaos infusion.
You’ll also need the relevant gems which can be found in a few places or dropped by enemies, but here is a helpful guide:
• Fire Gem – can be chosen as a starting gift or dropped by the Fire Demon you fight with Siegwald in the Undead Settlement.
• Refined Gem – on a corpse between the two dragons in Lothric Castle or dropped by a Crystal Lizard in the Grand Archives.
• Heavy Gem – speak to Hawkwood at Firelink after you kill the Crystal Sage or dropped by Crystal Lizard in ravine (on way to find Irina) in Undead Settlement.
• Raw Gem – kill Crystal Lizard on roof with Pus of Man enemy in High Wall of Lothric or can drop from the hollow enemies in this area.
• Crystal Gem – kill Crystal Lizard in the building before Crystal Sage boss fight or dropped by Sorceror Hollows in Crucifixion Woods.
• Hollow Gem – from the Farron Keep Perimeter bonfire turn around and head forward until you reach a hole in the wall to your right, drop down to a ledge with this item on a corpse or drop down off the roof in the Grand Archives (after the first Gargoyle) and find it on a corpse in a corridor behind you.
• Deep Gem – in Cathedral of the Deep, head around the room with the giant and up the stairs, then go left up the next stairs and head up to a balcony with an Evangelist enemy the gem is on a corpse here. Also dropped by Deacons of the Deep on your way to Anor Londo or in Anor Londo itself.
• Blessed Gem – in Cathedral of the Deep make your way up to the rafters above the giant and head to the right side, it’s behind a Knight with a Greatsword, also in the rafters of Lothric Castle if you drop down the hole in the building after the three Gold Winged Knights.
• Poison Gem – from the Keep Ruins bonfire in Farron Keep go forward and look right to see three large Ghru standing around a corpse holding this item or grab from a corpse in the toxic swamp area in the Profaned Capital.
• Sharp Gem – kill a Crystal Lizard just above the Dilapidated Bridge bonfire in Undead Settlement or on a corpse by a whip wielding skeleton in the Catacombs of Carthus.
• Chaos Gem – on a corpse in Smouldering Lake past all the Giant Crabs (turn off the ballista first) or from a Crystal Lizard near the start of the Demon Ruins in this area.
• Lightning Gem – by the large alter in Irythrill of Boreal Valley, just below the Pontiff boss fight door, or one will be on a corpse after the first enemy you encounter in Archdragon Peak.
• Bleed Gem – down the steps from the Church of Yorshka bonfire leads to a dark room full of invisible enemies, go through here and drop to a ledge on the right side when you head outside. It’s also a rare drop from the invisible enemies.
• Simple Gem – in Irythrill Dungeon cross the bridge in the first area and go left, head down some steps to find one on a corpse. Alternatively after the Pontiff boss fight head outside and left around the building, under the bridge and up the stairs. Go back on yourself and head back inside where you fought the boss to find a Crystal Lizard to kill to get a gem.
• Dark Gem – in the Consumed Kings Garden look under the left set of stairs just before the boss room or they can drop from Pus of Man enemies here and elsewhere.
Master of Sorceries - 30g
Acquire all sorceries.
There are 34 sorceries in the game. Most can be bought or found but some can only be traded for boss souls or acquired from Covenants. To get them all you will also need to recruit Orbeck of Vinheim and Karla the Witch (do not kill either of them).
Orbeck is found in the Road of Sacrifices in the building before the Crystal Sage boss – you must have Int of at least 10 then accept his help and he relocates to Firelink Shrine. IMPORTANT: If you recruit Orbeck and then kill any FOUR bosses before giving him even one scroll he will leave, so make sure that doesn't happen. Karla is found in Irythrill Dungeon, in the room with a host of jailers, but you need to get the Jailers Key from the Profaned Capital. In the toxic swamp area climb the ladder up the building here and follow the roof to the left and up some stairs, then follow this path ahead to find the key on a corpse. Go back and free her to make her move to Firelink Shrine.
You then need the following scrolls to give to Orbeck of Vinheim to unlock spells to buy:
Sage's Scroll - Found in the Road of Sacrifices near the Keep Ruins bonfire. Look left after coming out of the tower (towards the ramp) and it is across the swamp in an area with a bunch of dead mushrooms, guarded by enemies.
Golden Scroll – Found in the Road of Sacrifices from the Farron Keep bonfire. You need to follow the right wall all the way through the poison swamp. The scroll is in a cave at the end of that wall guarded by some basilisks.
Logan's Scroll – Found in the poison swamp in Profaned Capital, climb the ladder up the building here and follow the roof around to some stairs. Head up and look to your right to see an NPC on the roof, kill him and he drops this item.
Crystal Scroll – When you arrive in the Grand Archives a Crystal Sage will spawn ahead of you, do enough damage and he warps away. Keep on attacking him every time you find him until he dies, then he will drop this.

DO NOT KILL THE STATUE IF YOU WANT THE USURPTION OF FIRE ENDING. Instead wait until you get to Darkmoon Tomb (just before Anor Londo) and speak to the pilgrim then interact with Anri's corpse. Head back to where the pilgrim was and this spell will be on the corpse.

The Covenant is located behind an illusionary wall on the left of the building you enter after crossing the field of dead (and not so dead) giants after the Pontiff boss. You need to kill two of the wolf/croc enemies down here to access it. Then you need 10 Human Dregs – one is on the floor of this room, the rest can be acquired by invading as a covenant member OR farmed from the Deacons of the Deep in the area above where the giants were or in Anor Londo. Use the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring, Symbol of Avarice (found from minics) and Rusted Coins. Drop rate is roughly one in thirty with this combo.
Affinity - Sold by Karla for 15,000 souls.
Dark Edge - Sold by Karla for 8,000 souls.
Master of Pyromancies - 30g
Acquire all pyromancies.
There are 27 Pyromancy spells in the game and you will need to buy and find most, as well as getting one from a Covenant. To get them all you will need two specific vendors, Cornyx of the Great Swamp and Karla the Witch. Cornyx is in a cage on a building near the Cliff Underside bonfire in the Undead Settlement. Talk to him to get him to relocate to Firelink Shrine.
You then need to find the following tomes and give them to the relevant vendor:

Master of Miracles - 30g
Acquire all miracles.
There are 35 Miracles in the game, most of which can be found or bought but a number are also Covenant rewards too. To get them all you will also need certain vendors and tomes. The two main vendors are Irina of Carim and Karla the Witch. Be sure to recruit them ASAP as well as finding Yoel to get Yuria for one of the tomes. The only missable miracle is Emit Force which you get from Siegwald's quest so be sure to follow that.
To find Irina you first need to pick up the Morician’s Ashes in the Undead Settlement. They are found in the area that the giant targets with his spears – don’t head into the building straight ahead as you enter, instead go left into the graveyard and follow the path to the end to find them. Give them to the Handmaid at Firelink and buy the Grave Key. Then head into the sewers in Undead Settlement (entrance near the stone bridge that leads to Siegwalds first encounter) and open the door, then follow the path to recruit Irina at the end.
The tomes you need are as follows:
Braille Divine Tome of Carim – Just before the Halfway Keep bonfire in Road of Sacrifices is a bridge. You can drop of the edge to find a ledge below with this item on a corpse nearby. Give to Irina.
Londor Braille Divine Tome – You need to get Yoel to move to Firelink from the Undead Settlement (found just below you when you first arrive there). Then let him release your power five times by dying multiple times, after which he will die and Yuria will arrive. She then sells this item for a mere 50 souls. WARNING: Do not give this tome to Irina or she may be kidnapped by Eygon after you buy a dark spell, save it for Karla who will accept it after first refusing.
Deep Braille Divine Tome – In Cathedral of the Deep you come to a ledge overlooking a room with two giants, go around this area and down the steps on the far side to a room with a chest in front of an altar. The chest is a mimic, kill it and it drops this item. WARNING: Do not give this tome to Irina or she may be kidnapped by Eygon after you buy a dark spell, save it for Karla who will accept it after first refusing.
Braille Divine Tome of Lothric – In Lothric Castle just before the Dragonslayer Armour boss door, go to the left (if facing the boss room) to find a gap in the railing where you can drop down to where one of the dragons was. Drop down here and grab the item from a corpse in the room. Give to Irina.

He is found leaning by the highest throne in Firelink when you first enter, speak to him to get some items. Then after you get a Pale Tongue (can find one near the fire demon in Undead Settlement) and beat the Rotting Greatwood, speak to him again to get a key. Head to the second bonfire in the High Wall of Lothric and head down the stairs and open the locked door. Go down the lift and kill the Darkwraith. Speak to him again back at Firelink. Then find Rosaria at the Cathedral of the Deep and join her Covenant – offer at least one Pale Tongue to her, then speak to Leonhard again by the door to her chamber. You then need to defeat Yhorm and light the Anor Londo bonfire. At this point he will kill Rosaria, so head to her room and grab the Black Orb. Then go to the room above the Aldritch boss fight in Anor Londo and use the Orb. Kill Leonhard to get the soul. NOTE: If you choose not to join the Covenant early on, this can all be done after killing the last boss.

Then head up the lift and then back down to find him on a ledge halfway up. Speak to him and help him beat the fire demon then speak to him again. Then at the Cathedral of the Deep, when you open the main doors (that lead back to the graveyard you came through) head back to the Cleansing Chapel bonfire and then go to the well just outside the doors to speak to Siegwald. Go back to Firelink and head up the locked tower. When you come back down Patches will lock you in. Speak to him then, drop down the ledges nearby to escape. Head back into Firelink and up the stairs on the left to find Patches at the top past the arches. But Siegwalds armour from him. Head back to the well and give it to Siegwald. Then as you head through Irithyll of the Boreal Valley you come to a large water area, head into the sewer on the left side and up the stairs opposite. You’ll find Siegwald in a kitchen, speak to him for this spell.
Wrath of the Gods – In the toxic swamp area of the Profaned Capital, head up the ladder on the building here and then left around the roof and up the stairs. Lightning Spear – Go up the elevator near the Old Wolf in Farron’s Keep. Head up the stairs here (watch out for the demon) and go right to the closed gate. To the right of it is a path you can drop to and follow to get behind the gate, the spell is on a corpse here.

Take the next right to a room with two giant rats, go into the next room and into the door immediately on your left. Head up here to make your way to the Dragon statue, then go past it to a lift and hop off halfway up to find this.
Darkmoon Blade - Blades of the Darkmoon Covenant Rank 2 reward. To join the Covenant you need to speak to Sirris when she first arrives at Firelink (after you speak to Anri and Horace in Road of Sacrifices) then speak to her again after you give the Dreamchaser’s Ashes (found in the Tower of the Old Wolf in Farron Keep) to the Handmaid to get a gesture. Master of Rings - 30g
Acquire all rings.
The most long winded task in the game as you need to find all 107 rings, with the +1, +2 and +3 versions only available on NG+ and NG++. Master of Expression - 30g
Learn all gestures.
There are 33 gestures in the game. You are given seven automatically and must find the rest, most of which come through certain NPC interactions. I've listed them in the order you are likely to get them. The most important one to get is from Sirris BEFORE you join Rosaria's Fingers to get the gesture from Heysel.
Rest – Simply use a bonfire for the first time.
Hurrah! – Simply talk to Blacksmith Andre in Firelink.
Collapse – Acquired by talking to Hawkwood repeatedly at Firelink shrine.
Curl Up – Rescue Greirat from the High Wall of Lothric and agree to help him. Head to the Undead Settlement and find Loretta’s Bone from a hanging corpse in the building overlooking the congregation around the bonfire. Give it to Greirat, then rest and speak to him again to get this.
Beckon – When you first arrive at the Undead Settlement go down the steps and turn back on yourself and head down to the path to a bunch of pilgrims. Speak to Yoel, the last one alive, and he’ll go to Firelink. Then talk to him again there.
Prayer – Return the Mortician’s Ashes found in Undead Settlement to the Handmaid and buy the Grave Key. Use this on a locked door in the sewer near the Dilapidated Bridge bonfire, and follow it to find Irina. She will give you this gesture.
Welcome - Talk to the Cornyx in the Undead Settlement and he will relocate to Firelink Shrine, then talk to him there.
Call Over - Obtained by trading an item, cheapest is the Homeward Bone, with the crows above the Firelink Shrine bonfire (need to buy the Tower Key first).
Toast – Speak to Siegwald at the lift in the Undead Settlement, then step on it and immediately off it to summon a lift from above. Head up and speak to the giant, then head back down but drop off to a ledge about halfway to find Siegwald. Speak to him and help him beat the fire demon, then talk to him again to get this gesture.
Sleep - Speak to Siegwald at the lift in the Undead Settlement, then step on it and immediately off it to summon a lift from above. Speak to him and help him beat the fire demon, then talk to him until he falls asleep to get this.
Dignified Bow – Get Yoel to Firelink, then have him release your power five times (do this by dying repeatedly). After the fifth time he will die and Yuria will appear close too him. Talk to her to get this.

Head to the second bonfire at the High Wall of Lothric and go down a level and open the door, take the lift down and kill a Darkwraith then speak to Leonhard again.

Ultimate Bonfire - 30g
Reinforce a bonfire to the highest level.
You need to find ten Undead Bone Shards and then choose to burn them at the Firelink Shrine bonfire when they are in your possession. Burn all ten to get the achievemet. Here is the order you should find them in:
1) Undead Settlement - From the Dilapidated Bridge bonfire near the white birch tree where the arrows fall if you haven't killed or befriended the giant, head forward to the area where the giant throws arrows, it's on the big stone ledge on the right before the building you go through to the boss. Befriend the giant first to make getting it easier.
2) Cathedral of the Deep - After you head through the ghoul infested graveyard and over a bridge go up the stairs and then down the next stairs on your right to another area where the giant throws arrows. The Shard is down here on a corpse.
3) Farron Keep - There is a tower full of slugs near to the ladder leading to the Old Wolf, kill them all and grab this from the corpse.
4) Catacombs of Carthus - There is a long set of stairs that a ball of skeletons will roll up and down, at the bottom just inside the door is a skeleton with a hat - kill him and the ball will come down, hit the wall and break apart to reveal this shard.
5) Smouldering Lake - Kill the giant worm that guards the Old Demon King boss gate, just shoot him with arrows from range.
6) Smouldering Lake - From the Old Kings Antechamber Bonfire head forward and down the steps ahead of you to the bottom level with two of the fireball spawning enemies, the shard is on a corpse in the left corner but watch out for the slime that drops down from above it.
7) Irithyll of the Boreal Valley - From the Church of Yorshka bonfire go down the stairs then right through the small graveyard to find this behind a large tombstone (with an enemy crounched in front of it) at the end.
8) Profaned Capital - After the first gargoyle flies in to attack you cross the bridge to find the Profane Capital bonfore and this shard on a corpse close by.
9) Lothric Castle - From the Dragon Barracks Bonfire head up the stairs to the bridge with the two fire breathing dragons, feel free to kill them from afar. Then cross the bridge but drop to the ledge just before the end to find this on a corpse below you.
10) Grand Archives - At the top of the Grand Archives are rooftops covered in Gargoyles, at the end of which you'll drop down and enter a broken window (it's the area just before you encounter three hostile NPC enemies). The shard is on a corpse in here.
Ultimate Estus - 30g
Reinforce the Estus Flask to the highest level.
You start with a flask and four shots of Estus (one is assigned to your Ashen Flask) but need to find eleven more to max out your flask. Here is the order you should grab them in:
1) In the High Wall of Lothric head to the Tower on the Wall bonfire, go down the steps and out of the door ahead onto a rooftop. Down the ladder here and then down the ladder at the other end of the roof. At the bottom follow the path straight ahead until you reach a large room with the shard on an anvil.
2) In the Undead Settlement go through the first large building and at the bottom you'll come out into an open area with a bridge on the right and plenty of enemies around a bonfire on the left. The shard is in front of the bonfire.
3) Buy the Tower Key for 20,000 souls from the Handmaid in Firelink, then head outside the arches on the top level of the shrine and head left to open the door. Head up to the next roof where the birds nest is and you can drop down to a ledge below, find an opening here to enter the Shrine raftters to find this item on a corpse.
4) As you go past the Crucifixion Woods bonfire in Road of Sacrifices, head to the building ahead but go down the left side. You'll come to a ledge looking down on a bonfire with two large hollows, the shard is on a corpse down here.
5) Right outside the door of the Cleansing Chapel bonfire. The shard is on a corpse surrounded by four praying enemies.
6) From Farron Keep bonfire head forward and slightly left to a broken bridge to find this on the other side near a toppled tower.
7) From the Old King's Antechamber bonfire in Smouldering Lake go and hit an illusionary wall in the far right corner. Go through here and look down the left corridor, there are a bunch of slimes on the ceiling so kill them and grab this from the floor at the end.
8) From the Anor Londo bonfire go up the stairs then left at the top and into the room with the dead giant, go up the stairs in here and follow the path down killing deacons on the way. When you get to main floor at the bottom face away from the boss room and check along the right side for a chest with this shard.
9) From the Irithyll Dungeon bonfire head straight and then left, cross the bridge here and left at the other side to find stairs leading down. Head along the downstairs and outside to some large steps. Follow them down past the enemies to a room with a chest - IT'S A MIMIC, so kill it to get the shard.
10) After you kill the Dancer of Boreal Valley, head up the ladder and then left to the stairs, kill the knight and take the lift but jump to a ledge halfway down. Grab the shard from a corpse on the ledge outside.
11) In the Grand Archives climb all the way to the highest roof, where three large Gold Winged Knights drop down to attack you. If you go to the right side of this big roof area (as you enter) you'll find the shard on a corpse.
Enkindle - 15g
Light a bonfire flame for the first time.
Very straightforward. You’ll come to your first bonfire in the Cemetary of Ash after exiting the first area to a cliff edge, it’s on your left. Light it and unlock this achievement.
Embrace the Flame - 15g
Become a Host of Embers for the first time.
Not long after the first bonfire you’ll come to a statue in a large area with a sword in it. Interact with the statue to start the first boss fight with Iudex Gundyr. He uses a number of sweeping spear attacks and thrusts, so dodge liberally and strike when you have an opening. At half health he will transform and become much slower but more damaging. Dodge his attacks and try and roll towards him as you do to get a strike in, but be wary of his grab move. Once he dies you will be a host of embers.
To Link the First Flame - 50g
Reach "To Link the First Flame" ending.
The basic ending. To get this DO NOT have all eight Dark Signs (you can purge them via the Fire Keeper if you return the item from the top of the locked tower at the Shrine) plus do not give the Fire Keepers Eyes (found in Untended Graves) to the Fire Keeper (or, if you do, don’t summon her after the last boss). Once the last boss dies just interact with the bonfire.
The End of Fire - 50g
Reach "The End of Fire" ending.
When you reach Lothric Castle (after the Dancer fight – then climbing the ladder) go up the stairs to the left to reach the Consumed Garden. Kill the boss here and go into the room behind him, then smack the illusionary wall behind the chest at the far end. Enter to reach the Untended Graves area. Proceed through here and beat the boss, then head to the altered Firelink Shrine. Go to where Irina would normally sit (as you enter head to where Andre is, then go right and follow the corridor to a dead end) and hit the wall here. Grab the Fire Keepers Eyes here, then go back to the regular Firelink and give them to the Fire Keeper there. Proceed as normal and kill the last boss, once he dies look for the Fire Keepers summon sign BEFORE touching the fire. Let her do her thing (do NOT attack her) and you’ll get this ending.
The Usurpation of Fire - 50g
Reach "The Usurpation of Fire" ending.
This is the most long winded ending and you need to follow a few steps to get this done. MOST IMPORTANT – if you return the Fire Keepers Soul from the locked tower behind Firelink Shrine then DO NOT choose to heal the Dark Sign at any time until this is done. Do not miss a step, as if you skip a location the quest will fail if you proceed the game.
1) When you first reach the Undead Settlement go down the stairs and go back on yourself at the bottom. At the end of the bridge will be a number of dead pilgrims and one that is still alive. Talk to Yoel of Londor here and he will relocate to Firelink.
2) At Firelink Yoel is down the long tunnel to the left of Andre. Speak to him and he offers to draw out your true power – which seems like a free level up. You need to do this five times, with the first being free and the rest requiring two deaths (by any means) each time. Feel free to kill yourself repeatedly here until you have done five levels and he will comment on your true power if you select the option again. Leave and come back to Firelink and he will be dead, but Yuria will be standing close by (she sells all the items he offered, so don’t worry about missing them). Talk to her until she repeats herself.
3) As you make your way through the Road of Sacrifices you’ll come to the Halfway Keep bonfire and two Knights nearby. Talk to Anri and Horace until they repeat (and gain a covenant item).
4) DO NOT FIGHT PAST THE ABYSS WATCHERS YET. Make your way to the Cathedral of the Deep (past the Crystal Sage fight) and kill the Deacons of the Deep boss. You can summon Anri and Horace to help. After the fight port back to Firelink and Anri will be there – talk to him/her.
5) Now defeat the Abyss Watchers and enter the Catacombs of Carthus. As you enter, cross the long bridge and then go right, head down here and follow the path to the left to find her again. Speak to her until she repeats.
6) Progress through the Catacombs until you come to a room with a rickety wooden bridge (there is a skeleton swordsman with his back to you on a cliff edge just below it) but DO NOT CROSS IT. Instead take the narrow path to the right just before it and follow it around to Anri. Speak to her again here.
7) Now drop down from where she is standing and head towards the bridge, hit the supports to make it collapse, then interact with it to climb down to the Smouldering Lake. Fight past the demon in the first room (arrows from afar to be safe and the chest here is a mimic), then past the two floors of skeletons to reach the Lake proper. Watch out for the giant ballista here. Hug the right hand wall and follow it around to an opening, inside are two Crystal Lizards to kill and then you’ll find a hostile Horace. Kill him then return to Anri by the bridge and tell her you saw him.
8) Continue to Ithiryll of the Boreal Valley and you’ll come to the Church of Yorska bonfire. Anri is here so speak to them again (and receive a gesture for doing so) but DO NOT attack the statues on the left side of the door as you enter. One is a hidden pilgrim and killing them here voids the quest.
9) Defeat Pontiff Sulyvhan in Ithiryll of the Boreal Valley then return to Firelink and talk to Yuria, she will mention that a pilgrim has been guiding your spouse and will eventually repeat herself.
10) Warp back to the Pontiff bonfire and head outside. Go left and fight through the deacons, giants and NPC enemies here (take out the deacons on the top level first by going under the bridge and up the stairs). Now go past the giants and up the stairs into the building ahead. Up the stairs in here and out the left side to a ledge you can drop down to. Watch out for the greatbow knights and make your way up and across the ledge to a door on the right. Inside here is the path to Anor Londo but, assuming you did everything correctly, the big wall on the right will disappear as you enter. Head down to find the pilgrim again and speak to them to receive an item.
11) Head past him down a corridor and use the item on Anri. Grab the ring from the chest in here and the spell from the fresh corpse of the pilgrim. Then head to Anor Londo. Light the bonfire and warp back to Firelink to speak to Yuria.
12) Go through the rest of the game as normal but DO NOT heal the Darksign with the Fire Keeper. After killing the last boss touch the bonfire to get this alternate ending. Note that you keep your hollowed status on future playthroughs so you might want to cure yourself at some point after getting this ending to ensure you don’t get it again.
Lords of Cinder: Abyss Watchers - 30g
Defeat the Abyss Watchers, Lords of Cinder.
Found at the end of Farron Keep. You can potentially summon Sirris, Londor Pale Shade and Black Hand Gotthard depending on where you are with certain NPC’s. The first phase of the fight is interesting but straightforward the boss has a number of slashing and dash attacks but can be easily staggered, so do some damage when you can. A second enemy will rise up and attack you so watch out, however, a third enemy will then turn up and he will attack the boss (but can also damage you so be wary). Use this to your advantage to lose aggro and heal if needs be. At half health the boss gains fire abilities and becomes more aggressive but the moveset stays the same and the other enemies stop coming. Take your time to doge attacks and strike when there is a clear opening.
Lord of Cinder: Yhorm the Giant - 30g
Defeat Lord of Cinder: Yhorm the Giant
Found in the Profaned Capital. You can make this boss fight SUPER easy by completing Siegwalds quest line as follows.
1) At the end of the Undead Settlement you’ll come to a tower with a lift that goes up and down. When you arrive wait for Siegwald to step off the lift the comes up from below and speak to him repeatedly. Then step on the lift and quickly step off. Another lift comes down. Ride that to the top and speak to the giant to make peace. Then ride it back down but hop onto the wooden ledge halfway down when you hear Siegwald.
2) Speak to Siegwald again on the ledge overlooking the fire demon. Once he repeats go and engage the demon and he will help. Once it dies speak to him repeatedly again (you get two gestures) until he falls asleep.
3) In the Cathedral of the Deep you need to open the main blue doors (that lead back to the graveyard you came through earlier) from inside. You can access these doors either by pulling a lever near the Rosaria’s Fingers room and crossing the raised bridge or by going up an elevator near the boss door. Once they are open head back to the Cleansing Chapel bonfire and out the main doors here they look right to see a well, interact with it to find Siegwald stuck down here. Talk to him repeatedly.
4) Head back to Firelink and into the tower that you need to buy the key for (20,000 souls from the Shrine Handmaid). Head up the tower over the roof and take the lift up the next tower to the top. Head back down the lift and Patches will have locked you in. Speak to him repeatedly (MAKE SURE TO DO THIS). Then use the ledges nearby to drop down to safety. Head back into Firelink and up the stairs on your right to find Patches just past the openings that lead outside. REFUSE to forgive him for a gesture, and then buy ALL of Siegwalds armour from him.
5) Go back to the Cleansing Chapel bonfire and speak to Siegwald down the well again, give him his armour back (get another gesture here) and wait until he repeats.
6) Head through Irithyll of the Boreal Valley to the Church of Yorshka bonfire. Go down the steps here, through the dark room with invisible enemies and down more steps to the water. Follow the left hand wall to a sewer head in here (watch out for the spider woman) and up the steps on the opposite wall to find Siegwald by a fire. Speak to him for a spell and then he falls asleep again. WARNING: Do not go to Irithyll Dungeon BEFORE doing this step or the quest is lost.
7) Now when you eventually get to Irithyll Dungeon you find a room with a giant and a load of rats kill them all (the rats respawn a few times). But before dropping down go down the ladder from the top ledge and into another sewer that has more rats in. Proceed forward to find two chests at the very end – BE CAREFUL AS ONE IS A MINIC and five basilisks will have dropped down behind you. Kill them and open the other chest for the Old Cell Key. Then go back to the room the giant was in and drop into the room to speak to Siegwald in his cell until he repeats.
8) Head to the Profaned Capital, and when you reach the toxic swamp area climb up the ladder on the building here. Follow the roof round and go up the stairs. There is an NPC up here that drops on the of the Spell Scrolls. From this roof look at the wall above the steps you came up to see an opening you can jump to. Do so and follow the path to Siegwalds cell. Open it and grab the Titanite Slab and speak to him repeatedly.
9) Head to the Yhorm boss fight at the end of the Profaned Capital. You can summon an ally if you want (only one) and then when you cross the fog a cutscene will occur and Siegwald will automatically join you. HE DOES HUGE DAMAGE TO THE BOSS. You can pretty much do nothing if you want or run to the throne and pick up the other Storm Ruler weapon to help out (charge it first and then attack).
Lord of Cinder: Aldritch, Devourer of Gods - 30g
Defeat Aldritch, Devourer of Gods, Lord of Cinder.
Found in Anor Londo. This guy is the worst. He casts a number of spells of the soulmass variety so be careful, up close he also does spinning attacks, a big thrust and combos. His worst attack though sees him raise a bow and fire a ton of arrows in the air which can do massive damage if it hits but go in a straight line so try rolling sideways if possible. Try and get close and bait his big lunge then punish him. After some damage he will start to vanish – so dodge back as he lets out a dark blast when he does so. Then he will respawn in the furthest corner so rush to get close before he blasts you with spells. Get him down to half health and he starts to leave a fire trail as he moves and every time he disappears AND pops up he will auto cast small homing spells which can be annoying. The worst part is his arrow attack gets a massive buff and can now follow you around the room so try to roll in multiple directions to shake it off. Stick fairly close and try to dodge through his melee stuff until he misses with a big recovery move, then chip away at him.
Lord of Cinder: Lothric, Younger Prince - 30g
Defeat Lothric, Younger Prince, Lord of Cinder.
Found in Lothric Castle after the Grand Archives. You can potentially summon Sirris to help if you are on good terms, but other allies are advisable too. The first half of the fight is purely physical. Lorian does a number of sweeping combos, sometimes with a third vertical hit, which you can dodge back from then step in for a free hit at the end. He also sometimes teleports behind you so be ready to dodge out of the way of his incoming hits. Once you sap his energy down Lothric will appear and cling to his back. You now have to worry about physical and magic attacks as Lothric uses homing spells and soulmass blasts on top of Lorian’s swipes. Take Lorian down and rush in to do do big damage to Lothric while he revives him (but watch out for the large blast when he is done). You may need to do this a few times depending on how much damage you can do to Lothric. You can also damage him when he is on his brothers back if you strike from right behind him.
Covenant: Warrior of Sunlight - 15g
Discover Warrior of Sunlight covenant.
Found in Undead Settlement. From the Undead Settlement bonfire head forward and through the building to a bonfire surrounded by enemies, if you go straight past them you come to a building you can enter. Look in here to find a hole in the floor that lets you drop into a locked room with the Covenant item you need. You can't level this Covenant until you find the Sunlight Altar near the Dragonslayer Armour boss room in Lothric Castle.
You need to get this Covenant to Rank 2 in order to acquire a unique spell, which requires 30 Sunlight Medals. One is found in Lothric Castle near the Sunlight Altar itself on a corpse. The best way to get them is to equip the Covenant item and then be summoned to help other players kill bosses. Alternatively you can farm the Lothric Knight enemies which can drop them. The drop rate is roughly one in thirty if you have the Symbol of Avarice, Golden Covetous Serpent Ring and use a Rusted Coin.
Covenant: Way of Blue - 15g
Discover Way of Blue covenant.
Found at the High Wall of Lothric. The first Covenant you’ll find. At the end of the area you’ll come to a large staircase leading up and down, head up where two knights are patrolling and into the door behind them. Speak to Emma to gain access to this Covenant,
Covenant: Blue Sentinels - 15g
Discover Blue Sentinels covenant.
Found on the Road of Sacrifices. When you come to the Halfway Keep bonfire you’ll meet Anri and Horace, speak to Horace (kind of) and get access to this Covenant.
Covenant: Blade of the Darkmoon - 15g
Discover Blade of the Darkmoon covenant.
Found in Anor Londo. You need to speak to Sirris in Firelink after you first meet Anri and Horace at the Halfway Keep bonfire. Then grab the Dreamchaser's Ashes from the tower where you find the Old Wolf of Farron - return them to the Handmaid and then Sirris will appear and give you the Darkmoon gesture. WARNING: If you join Rosaria’s Fingers BEFORE doing this then Sirris will be lost and not help you.
After you’ve crossed the roofs past the Silver Knights (after the Pontiff fight) you’ll head into a building then head left to a lever. Pull this to lower a rotating platform. Head up the stairs and push the lever at the top to rotate it again. Now head back down the stairs and go straight ahead over an invisible bridge, then drop onto the tower to your right as you get to it. Speak to Yorshka and, if you have the gesture from Sirris, she will let you join.
You need to get this Covenant to Rank 2 in order to acquire a unique ring and spell, which requires 30 Proof of a Concord Kept. You can get two naturally: one on a corpse by the Church of Yorshka bonfire and one on a corpse in Anor Londo by the Deacons on the left side. You can also get them by killing other invading phantoms as a member or farming the Silver Knights in Anor Londo. Spawn at the Anor Londo bonfire, run up the stairs, kill the two knights and repeat. The drop rate is roughly one in thirty if you have the Symbol of Avarice, Golden Covetous Serpent Ring and use a Rusted Coin.
Covenant: Rosaria's Fingers - 15g
Discover Rosaria's Fingers covenant.
Found in the Cathedral of the Deep. WARNING: asking to join this Covenant ends any interaction you can have with Sirris. You need to make your way through the cathedral until you get onto the highest roof, up here there are opening on the left that lead to the rafters – make your way across to the far side (watching out for enemies) and look for a ledge you can drop to. Do so and follow this path past a bunch of worm enemies and up some stairs, you’ll find more worms ahead. Kill them and go in the door on the right to find this covenant.
You need to get this Covenant to Rank 1 in order to acquire a unique ring, which requires 10 Pale Tongues. You can get three naturally: one in the Undead Settlement on a dangling corpse near where you fought the fire demon, one on a corpse by the chained giants in the cathedral of the deep and another on a corpse near to where you entered the rafters to get here. You can also get them by killing other phantoms/hosts as a member or farming the Darkwraiths in Farron Keep. Spawn at the Keep Perimeter bonfire, go back outside and then left to find two Dark wraiths, which the enemies in this area will also attack. The drop rate is roughly one in thirty if you have the Symbol of Avarice, Golden Covetous Serpent Ring and use a Rusted Coin.
Covenant: Mound-makers - 15g
Discover Mound-makers covenant.
MUST BE DONE BEFORE KILLING THE ROTTING GREATWOOD. From the second bonfire in the Undead Settlement head forward and through the building, then on the other side head forward and then right over the stone bridge. Kill the two enemies that rush you and go to the right of the building they came out of and up the path, watch out for ambushing thralls here. Head up the ladder at the end and over the roof to your right to drop down behind a large cage carrying enemy. Sneak up behind him and interact with him to be taken to the Covenant.
If you killed the Greatwood before doing this you can speak to Sirris when she shows up in Firelink. Then cross the bridge to Irithyll and kill the wolf beast that attacks you there. Rest at the first bonfire at the end of the bridge and go back to where you fought the wolf to find Sirris; summon sign. Use it and help her beat the phantom. Then progress and kill Aldritch. After he is dead go back to the room before the Greatwood boss to find her sign again, help her hill another enemy to gain access to the Covenant that way.
You need to get this Covenant to Rank 2 in order to acquire a unique spell, which requires 30 Vertebrae Shackles. You get them by killing other phantoms/hosts as a member or farming the Red Eyed Skeleton enemies in Catacombs of Carthus. Spawn at the Catacombs of Carthus bonfire, go straight and then right (watch the skeleton boulder here) then take the next door on the left – there are two skeleton swordsmen in the next corridor. The drop rate is roughly one in thirty if you have the Symbol of Avarice, Golden Covetous Serpent Ring and use a Rusted Coin.
Covenant: Watchdogs of Farron - 15g
Discover Watchdogs of Farron covenant.
Near the end of Farron’s Keep, by the door you open by snuffing out the flames, is a tower full of slugs and next to that a ladder surrounded by more slugs. Head up this ladder and interact with the Wolf at the top. You need to get this Covenant to Rank 2 in order to acquire a unique ring, which requires 30 Wolf’s Blood Swordgrass. You get two in the swamp area and can acquire others by fighting off interlopers or farming the Ghru enemies. Spawn at the Keep Bonfire and kill the Ghru Caster and Spearmen on the bridge in front of you – rinse and repeat. The drop rate is roughly one in thirty if you have the Symbol of Avarice, Golden Covetous Serpent Ring and use a Rusted Coin.
Covenant: Aldritch Faithful - 15g
Discover Aldritch Faithful covenant.
Found in Irithyll of Boreal Valley. Just after the Pontiff boss fight you come to an area with deacons on the bridge to your left, two giants (and some dead ones) ahead of you and a couple of angry NPC enemies. Kill everything and then head into the building up the stairs past the field of giants. Hit the wall to the left of the stairs in here to reveal a ladder. Head down and be ready for a fight. On this room are TWO of the wolf beasts like the one you fought on the bridge into Irithyll. A good plan is to use the Silvercat Ring. Hit the one on the left with a ranged attack to aggro him and then climb partway up the ladder (high enough so he can’t knock you off) when he gets below you, drop off and do a plunging attack for massive damage. Now stay in the area by the ladder to chip away at him. Dodge his rapid attacks and only strike back when he has a long recovery (like his breath attack). Once he is dead the other enemy is easier, As you can kite them around one of the pillars and only strike when they are recovering.
Now approach the Archdeacon in the far corner to join. You must get rank 1 in this Covenant to get a required spell, which means you need 10 Human Dregs. One is found in this room and you can farm the others from the Deacons in the area you passed through to get here or in Anor Londo. The drop rate is roughly one in thirty if you have the Symbol of Avarice, Golden Covetous Serpent Ring and use a Rusted Coin.
Untended Graves - 15g
Reach the Untended Graves.
After the Dancer of Boreal Valley fight head up the ladder and then left to the stairs, head down and kill the knight to get to the Consumed Garden fight through here and kill the Consumed King boss. In the room just past him you find the Path of the Dragon gesture and a chest at the back of the room, hit the wall behind the chest to find the secret route to this area and unlock the achievement.
Archdragon Peak - 15g
Reach Archdragon Peak.
After the Dancer of Boreal Valley fight head up the ladder and then left to the stairs, head down and kill the knight to get to the Consumed Garden fight through here and kill the Consumed King boss. In the room just past him you find the Path of the Dragon gesture. Now you need to head to Irithyll Dungeon. Warp to the Profaned Capital bonfire and down the ladder, go up the ladder at the other side and across the stone bridge (minding the gargoyle) then up the ramp here to the Dungeon. You come to the room that is full of jailers (where Karla was) so kill them or rush past them to the door on the far side of where you entered. Go in here and head up to the dragon statue. Stand on the carpet next to it and perform the Path of the Dragon gesture you just found to be transported to Archdragon Peak.
Iudex Gundyr - 15g
Defeat Iudex Gundyr.
Found in Cemetary of Ash. The first boss is surprisingly tough, as soon as you pull the sword out wait for him to move and then hit him a couple of times to take a chunk of his health off then be ready to dodge backwards. Most of his moves hit hard so try and roll through them and strike him on the counter. At half health he gets mutated and can do some serious damage, especially with his grab, but he is much less mobile so you can heal by dodging backwards a few times to get distance. Try and bait his attacks and roll to the side of him before you counter.
Vordt of the Boreal Valley - 15g
Defeat Vordt of the Boreal Valley.
Found at the High Wall of Lothric. The second boss and one that is rather like a lot of the big dog enemies of past games, as if you stay near his back and sides you’ll be fairly safe. He has a large mace that he likes to do sweeping attacks and an overhand smash with, he also has a frost breath attack you can roll past and get some hits in from the side. At half health he becomes more aggressive and starts to charge at you, this can easily knock you down to try and roll sideways and then punish him when he smashes into a wall after the third charge. He often follows this with a breath attack to be ready to take advantage.
Curse-rotted Greatwood - 15g
Defeat the Curse-rotted Greatwood.
Found in the Undead Settlement. WARNING: do not kill him before finding the Mound Makers covenant. This imposing tree is actually fairly easy once you know the trick. His body has a number of white growths that you can smash for huge damage. As you enter there will also be a number of hollows around (and they keep respawning in the first half) so kill two or three of them to activate him. At this point he swipes with his hands, does a forward smash attack with both arms, tries to roll on you or stands up and then slams back down. All are easily dodged, but watch out for the smaller enemies too – though he often kills them for you. First of all target his left hand and destroy the growth there for big damage, then do the same on his left leg (it’s slightly higher up but only takes a couple of hits) for more damage. Then destroy the sacs on his groin area, watching out for his smash attacks. This will take him to half health and he’ll smash the floor and you drop down. The villagers now stop spawning. He sprouts a large arm from his middle that you want to avoid. Get to his back and smash the sacs there, then the ones on his right side at the front, then the ones in the middle again. At this point he is practically dead and you can just didge the white arm and smack it a couple of times to finish him.
Crystal Sage - 15g
Defeat Crystal Sage.
Found on the Road of Sacrifices. You can summon Eygon from behind a pillar in the room just before this boss if you freed Irina. This boss can be nasty, try and have items that block magic if possible. The key to this fight is speed. As soon as you enter he will be opposite and casting a spell, dash forward and try to dodge whatever he throws at you, then get a long combo on him before he can cast again. He’ll teleport away after taking so much damage. He’ll generally pop up in the farthest corner so get over there fast. While the pillars here CAN block the smaller homing spells, they do not block his massive soulmass casts – so be wary. Repeat until he gets down to half health and then he starts to summon clones too, you can tell as they use blue magic to his purple stuff and can be killed in one hit. His moves stay the same so try and clear them out and close the range to him to chip away at his health. Always dodge roll as much as possible to evade spells you can’t see. He doesn’t have a ton of health but he can swiftly take you down if you get caught in a few spells.
Deacons of the Deep - 15g
Defeat the Deacons of the Deep.
Found in the Cathedral of the Deep. You can summon Anri and Horace to help you if you’ve been following their story. This fight is pretty easy as it is purely a room full of regular enemies, but be mindful of getting surrounded and swamped as they keep respawning. Make sure to take cover before you heal too, as they tend to cast fireballs at range. To start with just focus on killing enemies, especially the ones with the red eyes, eventually one specific enemy will be possessed and you can then focus on just taking him down. Don’t be afraid on killing a bunch of the weaker enemies to clear some space at any time, as they can soon become overwhelming. However, the generally do slow melee attacks up close or fireballs at range, the fat ones can also do a holy blast that can knock you down.
High Lord Wolnir - 15g
Defeat High Lord Wolnir.
Found in the Catacombs of Carthus. This boss is fairly easy if you know what you are doing, simply put you need to break the three shackles on his arms. When you enter the room make a dash for his right arm (the one to your left) and smack it repeatedly before he can stand up, with any luck it will break and make your life easier as he rarely lowers this arm and it can be a pain to attack. Don’t get too close to him as he has a poison cloud around him that can ruin your day, he will also summon a large sword to attack you, try and grab/crush you with his arms, breath a large dark cloud and summon skeletons to attack you. Try and dodge these if you can – as generally Wolnir will kill them himself when attacking. Focus on breaking the shackles to kill him quickly.
Pontiff Sulyvahn - 15g
Defeat Pontiff Sulyvahn.
Found in Irythrill of Boreal Valley. There are three potential summons outside of this guys room (says it all really) depending on your progress: Black Hand Gottard, Londor Pale Shade and Anri of Astora. All help is appreciated. The boss has swords that do fire and magic damage so plan accordingly. He does a number of slashes and stab attacks, plus a magic infused whirl attack too. At half health he will summon a rather annoying clone of himself to annoy you. The best plan is to either stay at mid range to bait his lunge attack, then punish him and get back to range. Alternatively, with a strength build you can get in close and strafe him until you get a good opening and then attack. Cheap but effective.
Dancer of the Boreal Valley - 15g
Defeat Dancer of the Boreal Valley.
Found at the High Wall of Lothric. After you kill three Lords of Cinder (Abyss Watchers, Aldritch, Yhorm) you will be teleported back to Emma. Speak to her. If you then approach the altar behind her this fight will trigger so be ready. The boss has a number of curving attacks but in the first phase she is quite slow and predictable, roll through her strikes and be ready to keep rolling in case of combos. Get her health down to halfway and she pulls out a second sword and becomes more deadly. Get away from her when this happens as she instantly goes into a long combo that is hard to block. Wait for her to finish and get some hits in. She can now leave trails of fire as she moves to be careful of that, roll through her attacks to the back or side and get a hit in then get out of dodge. NOTE: You can access this fight far earlier when you meet Emma – by killing her and swiping her key item, which lets you get to Lothric Castle much sooner if you fancy it.
Dragonslayer Armour - 15g
Defeat Dragonslayer Armour.
Found in Lothric Castle. You can summon Eygon from inside the church to the right of the boss gate if you’ve been keeping up with his story, plus you can summon Sirris of the Sunless Realms if you’re on good terms too – her sign is on the steps in front of the gate. The boss is imbued with lightning so any defense against that is welcome, however, expect him to do massive damage either way do to the strength of his hits in general. He will lunge at you as soon as you enter so be prepared to dodge, then be ready for his two or three hit combos. They often end in a big shield bash which you want to avoid at all costs as it can leave you wide open. He with also do a big sweeping attack that you can generally roll past and a large lightning smash in front of himself, if you can roll past him as he does this then you can easily get a couple of hits in. Watch out for his attacks smashing the edge of the arena here, as you can easily get knocked to an instant death. At half health the area will randomly start getting pelted with projectiles from either side so try not so stand still, wait for openings in his combos and chip away at him.
Old Demon King - 15g
Defeat Old Demon King.
OPTIONAL BOSS. Found in the Smouldering Lake. Get her by smashing the wooden bridge before the Wolnir boss fight and climbing down it to reach this area. You can summon Great Swamp Cuculus just outside if you rescued Corynx from the Undead Settlement and Knight Slayer Tsorig if you beat his invading phantom in the Catacombs. This fight can be made ridiculously easy by simply bringing a good bow and plenty of arrows, plus a shield with high end fire resistance. Simply stay at range and shoot him from afar, the only attack that can reach you is his fire spray (which you can block as it is telegraphed). Other than that just run around the arena and pepper him from afar until he dies. It’s not honourable but it is fun.
Oceiros, the Consumed King - 15g
Defeat Oceiros, the Consumed King.
OPTIONAL BOSS. Found in the Consumed Garden. After the Dancer fight head up the ladder and then left up the stairs, kill the knight in this narrow path and take the elevator down to the garden area. Watch out for the toxic zones and knights and make your way to the boss. You can summon Hawkmoon nearby if you’ve been following his story. The boss is actually not too tough and relies on a number of swipes and charge moves, he can also do a pretty nasty grab move if you aren’t careful. However, it’s easy to roll past much of his aggression and strike him in the back and sides before rolling away.
Champion Gundyr - 15g
Defeat Champion Gundyr.
OPTIONAL BOSS. Found in Untended Graves. After beating the boss of the Consumed Garden go into the room behind him and smack the wall behind the far chest to reveal the path to this location. You can summon the Sword Master nearby if you killed him at Firelink Shrine (he is the katana enemy to the left of the main entrance there) but he is fairly useless. He's a much more powerful version of the first boss and he uses a lot of rapid spear attacks, smashes, kicks and charge moves. If you can bring in help then that would be ideal as he is extremely relentless and a distraction can help you heal or get some strikes in. As it is, try and bait his long combos and strike when you dodge the last move, or when he misses his lengthy charge attack. At the halfway stage he gets a bit more peeved off and moves slightly faster, but no new attacks are added so stay cautious and stick to picking attacks only when you know you won’t get hit in return.
Ancient Wyvern - 15g
Defeat Ancient Wyvern.
OPTIONAL BOSS. Found in Archdragon Peak. You need to get the Path of the Dragon gesture from the room behind the boss in the Consumed Garden, then use it by the dragon statue in Irithyll Dungeon to get to this location.
One of the easiest bosses in the game if you know what you are doing. As soon as he drops down run past him and to the left. Watch out for the serpent men enemies in here, you may want to kill them as you go but if you do then be mindful of the Wyvern’s breath attacks. Follow this long path through a few rooms (more foes) up stone steps (some enemies drop down at the top) and then over a stone bridge (more enemies at the end). Past them is a ladder on the wall you can climb up, do so and head along until you can drop down to a stone ledge (go up the ladder here and along another platform for an item while you’re here). From the stone ledge you are right above the Wyvern, wait for him to stop breathing fire then drop and do a plunging attack to kill him instantly.
The Nameless King - 15g
Defeat Nameless King.
OPTIONAL BOSS. Found in Archdragon Peak. You need to get the Path of the Dragon gesture from the room behind the boss in the Consumed Garden, then use it by the dragon statue in Irithyll Dungeon to get to this location. To access him you must reach the large bell and then pull the lever to activate it. You can then drop onto the fog floor by the lever and go forward to the boss gate. He is a tough fight and uses a lot of lightning so any protection you have against that would be handy.
He comes in two stages. The first is with him on his dragon. He has a range of attacks: he does a one, two or three hit combo with his spear, he charges his spear with lightning and then dives forward to smash the ground, the dragon flies straight up and then breathes fire directly below him (run as soon as he starts doing this), he flies in a circle and lobs a lightning spear at you and then swoops straight at you after or the dragon breathes fire in an arc ahead of him. In truth this stage is the easier one. Stay just in front of the dragon (rather than underneath or the side) and bait the spear or lightning smash attacks, roll through them and smack the dragons head two/three times then back off (or shield up). If he does the sweeping breath attack roll to one side of the head get some strikes in. You can dodge roll past the lightning spears. At some point you will stagger the dragon – get close to the head and hit RB to do massive damage in a triggered animation. Then get a couple more hits in as he recovers. Once the dragon dies it’s onto stage two.
This bit is brutal. The King has a number of VERY fast combos and attacks, some so quick they can break your lock on and hit you in the back. At close range he will use rapid combos and try and kick you. At medium range he will do a rapid dash attack or jump in the air and try and smash you (this has a long recovery so is good for getting a hit in). At long range he will do a wide sweeping wave attack followed by a single quick wave attack (you can dodge both if you roll sideways enough) or just the single wave attack which has slight homing properties. DO NOT GET GREEDY, stick to single hits. Personally I used a bow and arrows, kept massive distance and hit him two/three times with arrows, dodged the long range wave attacks and dodged like crazy when he got close until I had range again. I still needed a lot of healing as the timing for dodging is not that generous. Good luck.
